Student-Only Orientation: Wednesday, August 12, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Family Orientation Sessions: Thursday, August 13

Students and their families are invited to attend our Family Orientation sessions. Families are welcome to arrive 30 minutes early to tour the building and help students practice opening lockers. Two identical sessions are offered:

Session 1: 2:00–3:00 PM (doors open at 1:30 p.m.)
Session 2: 6:00–7:00 PM (doors open at 5:30 p.m.)

Garfield Middle School has a new native rain garden and pollinator habitat, thanks to a full school year of planning, researching, and some generous grant funding. The school secured $2,000 in grants from the Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District (CSWCD) and the Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) program, alongside 32 donated milkweed plants from Monarch Watch. These resources enabled the project to become a reality.
 

Our Garfield mock trial teams joined with Harding teams to travel to the State Courthouse in Columbus in April to participate in the statewide Middle School Mock Trial Showcase sponsored by the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education. Together, the two schools' teams earned 11 individual awards, and three of the four teams received the highest possible team rating! Click Read More to find out who earned honors.

On May 6, the Lakewood Council of PTAs gave out its end-of-year awards. Dedicated staff, volunteers, and students were honored for the work they have done all year. Congratulations to the PTA honorees:

• October 29th from 5:00-8:30 pm 
• October 30th from 1:00-4:00 pm and 5:00-8:30 pm (No School for Students)
• October 31st from 8:00- 11:00 am (No School for Students)
